Parts of a plant

roots
hold the plant and take in water
stem
holds up the plant and carries water
leaves
make food with sunlight
flowers
make seeds

Types of plants

trees
a thick, woody trunk: oak, pine
bushes
several thin woody stems: rosemary
grasses
a soft, green stem: grass, parsley

How do plants reproduce?

Most plants grow from seeds. A seed needs water, air and the right temperature to germinate.

Why do we need plants?

They give us oxygen, food, wood, cotton and medicines.
